Making the switch to nontoxic skincare can be a tough transition and I am by no means perfect! Since first moving to a green(ish) lifestyle, I’ve tried tons of products. The ones I’m sharing today are what I’m currently into and use daily. I really think you (and your skin) will love them just as much as I do!
In this post, I’m going to lay out my daily skincare product line-up in order of which I use them. But first, I want to highlight a couple favorites:
#1 fave is Kypris SPF – a product I use every single morning. You should ALWAYS wear SPF to protect that pretty face, and I am so obsessed with this one. It’s not too heavy and adds just a touch of glowiness to my skin before I apply my make-up. My husband Caleb actually uses this SPF every day, too!
#2 fave is Acure exfoliating face wash. I have been using this for years and haven’t found another gritty scrub that get’s the job done like this one. It’s not too expensive and I usually buy mine at Whole Foods. It removes makeup so well and doesn’t dry me out. Definitely worth trying.
*Make sure to check out my makeup must-haves here. Clean beauty is an investment, so don’t waste you $$ by layering toxic makeup on top of these clean skincare products!
Now, let’s jump in to my daily routine! Remember – these are listed in the order I use them.
Fitglow Detox Cleanser– First step: This face wash is great for anyone prone to breakouts. The bamboo charcoal really digs deep to clean out those pores. I’ve been using this as my daily face wash for about a year and LOVE it! Your skin instantly feels squeaky clean and a little goes a long way.
Acure Brightening Face Scrub– This is the exfoliant I use about 3x a week in place of the Fitglow face wash. I’ve been using it for years and have tried other brands but always come back to this one! If you are breaking out or plan to use a sunless tanner on your face, use this before. The exfoliant helps get rid of dead skin so that your tanner goes on evenly. Note: my favorite nontoxic sunless tanner is Chocolate Sun. I have a 15% discount code with madaleigh15. For reference, I always use the Medium/ #2 shade.
Lotion P50 PIGM 400 Toner– This is step #2 (after either my cleanser or face scrub) which I use morning and night. Full disclosure – this toner is not completely non-toxic, but I have been using it for about two months and am seeing great results. I am all about balance when it comes to green beauty, and since having a baby I’ve had really bad dark spots from all the extra hormones. I got a facial at Joanna Czech in Dallas and this is what the staff there recommended for my hyper-pigmentation. It is definitely on the expensive side, so I will probably only use this until my dark spots have cleared. Then, I’ll switch back to one of my other favorite non-toxic toners, URSA Major or Indie Lee.
La Bella Figura Vitamin C Gel– Step #3- for morning and night. My skin seriously soaks this serum right up! Vitamin C is so important and this is made with the highest levels of complete Vitamin C possible. It’s helpful for treating uneven skin tones and scarring and adds a gorgeous hydrated glow to your face. This gel is pricier but seriously worth it. You only need a dime size in the morning/night, so a little goes a long way.
Kypris Moonlight Catalyst– Here’s step #4, which I only use at night. It’s great for blemish-prone skin, and I’ve noticed that it also helps remove the dark spots leftover from old blemishes, too. I don’t necessarily use this every single night, and definitely recommend taking a break if your skin feels dried out.
Tata Harper Restorative Eye Cream– Now for the fifth step, for both morning and night. I like to change it up when it comes to my eye cream, but this is one of the best I’ve tried. You only need to use a bit, so this one should last you a while – it helps with those fine lines and gives you a more youthful glow. I can always see a difference in the hydration around my eyes when I use it regularly.
Buca Botanicals Camellia and Rose Face Serum– Step #6 for both day and night … hello, hydration and glow! Great for all skin types. This contains rose hip which is packed with fatty acids to help regenerate damaged skin and fight the signs of aging. And, it smells sooo good. I mix a drop of this with my Kypris SPF (below) each morning. At night I use at least two drops since I’m not applying makeup after.
My Matcha Stick– I use this every night on my lips, but it’s also great for your under-eyes. It’s super clutch when you’re traveling and you need to wake your face up a bit!
Kypris Pot of Shade SPF30– This is my last step in the morning. If you’re going to buy anything from this list – make it this daily SPF! It doesn’t feel thick and sticky like some SPF does, and it gives you such a great glow. I usually use a dime size with a drop of the Buca Botanicals serum (above) all over my face and neck.
Indie Lee Spot Treatment– I only use this when I have a blemish. Apply it directly to the affected area and let it sit overnight. It should be minimized, if not totally gone, by morning.
